What the Flexi pass costs
Flexi runs from $356 (€311) for three days in second class to $1,010 (€928) for fifteen days in first. Youth pricing, 16 to 25, applies to every line of it. Children under 6 travel free, and 6 to 15 travel free on the Swiss Family Card, which comes with your pass at no extra cost and does not have to be requested separately.

The premium is at its widest on the short passes and narrows as the duration grows: at fifteen days in second class it is $640 (€542) for Flexi against $615 (€507) for Continuous, and in first class $1,010 (€928) against $971 (€871). If you are already leaning towards a long pass, Flexi costs you very little to keep your options open.
What the extra money buys
Identical coverage. Flexi is the same pass on the same network with the same first and second class options, the same Swiss Family Card, and the same museum entry and mountain discounts. The only thing that changes is when the days get used.
Who Flexi is for
It suits you if you are basing yourself somewhere and going out in bursts: two days in the mountains, a day off in Lucerne, a big travel day to Zermatt at the end. It also suits a trip with a rented car or a long walking leg in the middle, where the pass would otherwise be sitting idle while it burned through its days.
It does not suit you if you are moving every day anyway. If your itinerary is a new town each morning, Continuous covers exactly the same ground for less, and the days you would have been picking are all of them.
How the travel days work
Flexi days are activated one at a time online, and each one you activate is a day of unlimited travel like any other. Continuous does not ask you for anything, since it activates automatically on the date you chose when you bought it. That difference is the whole product, so it is worth knowing before you are standing on a platform. The mechanics of switching a day on are set out in full on activating your travel days.
Buying and what turns up

- Set the start date Your one-month window opens on it, and passes can be issued up to 180 days ahead.
- Check your email The pass arrives as a PDF carrying a QR code, and that PDF is the pass itself.
- Show the QR code on board An inspector scans it, and nothing else has to be shown.
Terms worth reading before you pay
Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before the start date, and after that you are charged in full. An issued pass cannot be amended, so changing the start date means cancelling and rebooking at the price showing that day.
You have to live outside Switzerland or Liechtenstein to buy any Swiss Travel Pass, and you may be asked to prove it. A passport or ID card is checked when a ticket inspector asks, so carry one alongside the QR code.
